Hotel Baglio Santacroce

Between the sea of San Vito Lo Capo, the mountain of Erice and the countryside of Valderice, on a hill facing the Gulf of Cornino and Mount Cofano, immersed in the green nature of the province of Trapani, stands the Baglio Santacroce.

Built in 1637 so that, from its elevated position, the ‘curatolo’ (keeper) could watch over the farms of the feudal manor, the baglio housed a few farming families and served as a tool shed, a stable and barn. Today, the Baglio Santacroce Hotel-Restaurant covers an area of 35,000 m2, and is surrounded by a lush garden with agaves, olive trees and citrus trees and aromatic herbs.

In 1987, the family of Joseph Cusenza completed an intelligent work of restoration and recovery of the ancient agricultural building, recreating the simple atmosphere of the original structure. The inner courtyard which is stone-paved and rich in the flora of Trapani, the green that surrounds and overruns the structure, the stone which blends in with the architecture of the place and the traditional Sicilian objects all make Baglio Santacroce a pleasant place which is lost in time.

A new "baglio" was built in 2005 adjoining the ancient building. It is perfectly integrated into the whole, maintaining the style and originality of the original building, both in its furnishings and materials, and it re-proposes the architectural style of a closed court building.

The large panoramic terraces offer unforgettable views, while the swimming pool with sun terrace offers moments of complete relaxation.

The reading room allows guests to enjoy a good book in the conciliatory silence that the stone walls and subdued colours create in the room.

You will be able to appreciate an extraordinary feeling of peace and harmony whilst sitting at a table by the pool in the tranquillity of nature, drinking a lemon water-ice and enjoying the landscape, clean air and the sea that still cradles immense treasures belonging to ancient civilizations.
